School Uniform Expectations 2024-2025 

At Ashcombe Primary School, we believe that a smart uniform is a very important part of school life here for the following reasons:

• Having a uniform which we all wear shows that we are part of something bigger – we’re a team, we work and learn together – We are Ashcombe.
• Uniform teaches children about formality – there are times in life when we need to dress smartly to show respect to others and ourselves.
• Upholding a smart uniform prepares children for their transition to secondary school where expectations are high and tightly maintained.

PLEASE ENSURE CLOTHING IS LABELLED. In a large school like ours uniform can very rapidly get mixed up or lost.  Labelled uniform is quickly returned once found.

ADDITIONAL PLAYTIME UNIFORM

We are aiming to make our breaktimes and lunchtimes as active as possible. We will also be trying to get outside come rain or shine apart from very extreme weather. If your child enjoys getting muddy or splashing in puddles, it is recommended that some of the optional items suggested below are brought in:

• A warm, waterproof/resistant coat/Lighter option in the warmer months
• Sunhat
• Wellies (Optional)
• Waterproof trousers (Optional)
• Additional change of clothes in school (Optional but recommended in Reception)

SCHOOL UNIFORM DOES NOT INCLUDE

• Make up or nail varnish
• ‘Extreme’ hair styling (Mohicans, brightly coloured, etc)
• Earrings other than studs
• Jewellery other than watches
• Hooded tops (Apart from Y6 Leavers’ Hoodies in the summer term)
• Sandals (they are a trip hazard)
• Coloured jumpers
• Leggings
